Meraas and BGRE break ground on beachfront community in Dubai

Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, and BGRE (formerly Brookfield Properties), has broken ground on Solaya, a beachfront residential development in Jumeirah 1.
The milestone marks Solaya’s transition from planning and design into the delivery phase, with groundworks now underway across the development. Swissboring Overseas Piling Corp. Ltd has been appointed to undertake the works, including shoring, excavation, piling, and dewatering, with completion scheduled between September and November 2026.
Solaya comprises 234 beachfront residences across nine buildings set within 40 acres in the heart of Jumeirah 1. The development includes a curated collection of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom residences, alongside penthouses, garden houses, and duplexes.
Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Holding Real Estate, said, “The groundbreaking at Solaya marks an important step in the delivery of one of Dubai’s most distinctive beachfront residential developments. Under the Meraas brand, Solaya brings together rarity of location, design excellence, and long-term value, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global destination for luxury living.”
Solaya is designed by Foster + Partners, with interiors by 1508 London.
Rob Devereux, Chief Executive Officer of BGRE, said, “Solaya reflects the strength of our partnership with Meraas and our shared commitment to delivering real estate of enduring quality. As the project moves into its next phase, our focus is on disciplined execution and bringing forward an exceptional residential community in one of Dubai’s most established coastal neighbourhoods.”
